Ep#7: Stewards of Money: My Pathway to 6 Figures

abundance entrepreneurship solo episode Dec 21, 2020

It’s time for me to give you an update on the life of Jumakae and the future of Your Story Medicine Podcast. This episode is about me holding space for you to be part of my healing journey as well and is much more than just a conversation about spirituality and ancestors. I love talking about legacy building and creating a business that serves as the vehicle to your dharma. If you’re experiencing imposter syndrome, I have a secret for you… people aren’t coming to you for your certifications or accolades, they’re coming to you because of our story and how you make them feel. Release the pressure to show up as perfect and I will do the same. We hear the phrase “people over profits!” but why isn’t it “people AND profits!”?

For me, sales was the byproduct of choosing to be in service first and wanting to connect with people, unattached to whether or not they would pay me. It’s a great skill to see someone’s vision when they are having a hard time seeing and believing it for themselves. Magic happens when you can be in that energy.

The money I made this year has been reinvested into my business and in building a team that allows me to delegate tasks that don’t light me up. I am so much more excited about creating jobs for others than I am about making money. The seeds I planted three years ago in learning how to run an online business grew into my ability to help others transition in this realm during the pandemic.

Thank you to my younger self for not giving up. We never know where the future is going to take us, so perhaps we’re being called to be good stewards of money, just like our ancestors were called to be good stewards of the land. It’s a responsibility to tend to it and make sure there’s enough to sustain myself and others.

I had to give myself permission to fail and make mistakes so that I could arrive with the clarity that I have today. “Fuck up is feedback.”

So… what’s next? It lights me up to share space and dreams with other women of color without feeling like we’re walking on eggshells. This openness allows us to focus on the futures that we’re co-creating. I’ve made the decision to continue working with women of color inside my group program, while also including femmes and non-binary folx who, prior to colonization, were the healers and shamans of their community. We have so much repair to do with one another!

Imposter syndrome isn’t a syndrome. It’s a byproduct of white supremacy and colonization. Think about it! I’m not enough… for who? We get to reclaim and embody resilience and creativity if we think beyond colonization.

If you’re someone who is feeling the imposter, especially when it comes to connecting with your ancestors or claiming your gifts, and are craving support, connection, and accountability to move you forward… if you’re ready to gain clarity on your story medicine and what it is you’re here to offer to the world by curating your own group program, then I invite you to apply to Roots to Rise, my 12-week storytelling and business accelerator for women and femmes of color.
